higher insurance premiums, suspension of license, or the loss of specific
driving associated occupations. Meanwhile, you may just learn something

    1. How do I know if I’m eligible to attend traffic school?

When you obtain your traffic citation in the mail, the paperwork will
show if you have the option to attend traffic school. If this option is
available or if you know you have not attended traffic school in the last 18 months,
just pay the court’s administrative fee and you may get started immediately. You may not attend traffic school to
hide a point if you have attended traffic school within the preceding 18 months. In the event the conviction was for a serious (2-point+) misdemeanor, traffic school will not be able to mask a point.

Motorists who hold a commercial driver license are permitted to attend traffic school to
hide a point on their driving records if a noncommercial vehicle was used at the time of the infraction.
Drivers who were operating a vehicle requiring a commercial license may not attend traffic school to hide a point.
However, drivers with commercial licenses should be aware that although the point may be masked on your record, your conviction will still be disclosed to potential employers and insurance providers.

Commercially licensed motorists who have successfully completed traffic school are encouraged to and responsible for
contacting the DMV Driver Security Unit at (916) 657-6452 to make sure that the point has been hidden from their driving record.

If you attend traffic school despite the fact that you are ineligible to hide a point, the DMV will not mask the conviction/point on your driving record.

During the enrollment procedure, you’ll be requested to answer some simple questions, and those responses will be recorded and saved into the database. As you carry on through the course, you will be occasionally asked these questions again, and you must answer the questions in exactly the same manner you did at enrollment before you are allowed to continue.
